Quality Hot dip galvanizing of Skema bolts protects against the corrosion of friction type bolts and should more than double life expectancy for bolts installed underground.
Corrosion attacks the galvanized coating on the bolts.  Hot dip galvanizing adds 10% to the weight of the bolt.  At the rate of deterioration shown by NORCAT in the table we display it would take some time before the underlying metal is attacked by corrosion.  We believe that until the underlying metal is attacked, installed bolts should retain their full holding capacity.

Testing of our bolts was conducted at NORCAT.  All tests were conducted with NORCAT personnel in attendance.  Independent corrosion testing was conducted by NORCAT engineers.  Tests showed a double the amount of corrosion of plain steel bolts Vs the Skema hot-dipped galvanized bolts immersed in a salt fog environment for 11 days.
